Lucknow: An FIR was registered against the director and a doctor of a private hospital in Sitapur district following the death of a 17-year-old girl.The FIR was lodged at Ramkot police station on the complaint of the deceased’s father after an administrative inquiry reportedly found serious lapses in medical care and record-keeping on Saturday.The deceased, identified as Kirti, was a resident of Dhavarsara village.According to the complaint submitted by the father, Munendra Singh, Kirti was admitted to a private hospital near Kashiram colony on Jan 26, after she complained of severe abdominal pain and fever. In his FIR, Munendra alleged that despite repeated requests, no senior or qualified allopathic doctor examined his daughter, and her condition continued to deteriorate during the course of treatment. He stated that the attending doctor — Dr Tripti Verma— admitted the girl but allegedly failed to provide adequate medical care and Kirti died the same night.Singh alleged that after the death, hospital director Rakesh Kumar Sharma attempted to send the body to Lucknow in an ambulance on the pretext of referral. Suspecting wrongdoing, the family informed the CMO and the DM, seeking an inquiry. Following the complaint, a medical inspection was conducted. Sources in the health department stated that the inquiry found multiple irregularities.Acting on the inquiry report, the DM ordered the suspension of the hospital’s licence and directed that its operations be halted. Health department officials confirmed that the action was taken due to prima facie evidence of negligence and procedural violations.Subsequently, Ramkot police registered a case against hospital director Rakesh Kumar Sharma and treating doctor Dr Tripti Verma. Additional superintendent of police, Sitapur, Alok Singh said further investigation was underway.
