Moga: Members of the farmer forum Kisan Mazdoor Morcha had a showdown with police when they were stopped from heading towards Killi Chahlan village to pose questions to chief minister Bhagwant Mann. The farmers wanted to question him over various demands, including compensation for those who faced losses over police evicting Shambhu and Khanauri morchas on March 19, 2025, when farmers returned from a meeting with central ministers in Chandigarh.
The farmers were stopped by Moga police when they wanted to reach Killi Chahlan. They started raising slogans against the state govt and the police. The officials then fixed a meeting of KMM with secretary-level officials in Chandigarh for Feb 20, which led to the lifting of the protest. As several state transport buses remained away from the routes, as they were hired to take people to a rally addressed by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and chief minister Bhagwant Mann, passengers faced a lot of inconvenience at places across the state. In the absence of buses, private transporters had a field day, as most of these ran with even up to double the capacity on certain routes, daily passengers said.
