Jind: The police here on Wednesday claimed to have arrested an agro firm head and busted an organised financial fraud committed against farmers.The accused was identified as Joginder Raj, chief managing director (CMD) of Agro Nature Farming and resident of Bajida Jatan in Karnal district. Joginder, according to the police, was involved in a fraud of Rs 2.28 crore.
PSI Pooja, in charge of Civil Lines police station in Jind, said complainant Ram Mehar, a resident of Kandela, reported that Joginder Raj and Rakesh Sharma, MD, Agro Nature Farming, with a registered office in Sector 17, HUDA, Jagadhri, Yamunanagar district, lured farmers into setting up a vermicompost (earthworm manure) business.The accused assured the complainant that vermicompost beds would be prepared in his fields at a cost of Rs 10,000 per bed and that the invested amount would be doubled within two years. Based on these assurances, the complainant paid a total of Rs 10,10,000 to the accused, said Pooja.After some time, the company stopped the work, failed to convert the beds within the stipulated period, and shut down its office before completion of the two-year agreement, and the accused absconded. When the complainant demanded the return of his money, the accused threatened to kill him, she added.On the basis of the complaint, FIR No 188 dated Aug 8, 2025, was registered at Civil Lines police station under relevant sections and accused Rakesh Sharma was arrested. During the investigation, it was also found that the firm’s registration with the Labour and Employment Department, Yamunanagar, was not verified.Following an in-depth investigation and on the basis of technical evidence, the main accused Joginder Raj was apprehended from Yamunanagar on Jan 30. He was brought to Jind on a production warrant and was formally arrested as per legal procedure. An amount of Rs 10,000 was also recovered from him, said Pooja.Jind police appealed to the people to thoroughly verify the legality and authenticity of any investment scheme before putting their money. If anyone was a victim of such fraud, they were advised to contact the police immediately.The police said they would continue strict action against economic offences, and the culprits would be ensured stringent punishment under the law.MSID:: 127911032 413 |
