Panchkula: The economic offences wing (EOW) of Panchkula police has busted a racket involving forged land documents allegedly prepared to illegally grab ancestral property. Two accused — Virender Sharma and Ashish Chaudhary — have been arrested and remanded to two days’ police custody.Police said the case was registered on the complaint of Davesh and Ritesh Bansal of Sector 20, Panchkula. The complainants said they inherited 15 kanals 2 marlas of ancestral land in Barwala village after the death of their father, Rameshwar Das Bansal. They alleged that a group of property dealers, stamp vendors and others conspired to fraudulently sell the land by preparing fake agreements to sell, forging signatures and using false identity documents. According to police, the forged agreements were prepared on multiple dates in 2024 and 2025 by misusing stamp papers, and some documents were notarised to make them appear genuine.Investigators found that the complainants’ father had never executed any agreement nor received any payment related to the land, and no lawful transaction had taken place. An FIR was registered at the Chandimandir police station under relevant sections. Police said important documents have been seized, witness statements recorded and the two key accused arrested.Panchkula police said efforts are under way to identify other suspects in the network, including stamp vendors and additional conspirators. Officials said strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in land fraud, forgery or attempts to illegally acquire property, and further arrests are likely.
