Fake Facebook account in Bengaluru police chief’s name sparks probe

Bengaluru: Cyberfraudsters have created a fake Facebook profile impersonating Bengaluru police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh. The profile, named in Hindi, featured photographs of Singh alongside several dignitaries. Police suspect the account was created with the intention of committing financial fraud by targeting unsuspecting individuals and soliciting money under false pretences.According to the complaint, head constable Shrishail Bagaloor Bhimaroy was tasked with monitoring social media platforms for derogatory content and fraudulent accounts. During routine online surveillance at 12.30pm on Feb 5, he noticed a suspicious Facebook account which had uploaded images of the police commissioner.
