Fake note racket busted in Asoj, two held

Vadodara: The Local Crime Branch (LCB) rural busted a fake currency printing racket in Asoj village and arrested two men on Monday night.Police said they acted on a tip-off and raided a rented house where the accused — Narendra Pal and Hemant Jagid —were allegedly printing counterfeit currency notes. During the search, officers recovered 14 fake Rs 500 notes and two fake Rs 200 notes, along with a printer and two laptops.According to investigators, the duo pasted original Rs 500 and Rs 200 notes on white paper and photocopied them in colour. The photocopies were then cut carefully to resemble genuine currency notes.Police said the accused circulated the fake notes in crowded markets. Further investigation will focus on the scale of circulation of counterfeit currency and whether more persons were involved in the racket.The city police have informed central investigation agencies about the seizure. An offence has been registered against the accused at the Manjusar police station.
