Chandigarh: A man posing as a CBI officer was caught by lawyers at the district court complex Tuesday and handed over to the Sector 36 police.Advocate Rajesh Singh said the accused — identified as Satish — had been frequenting the court premises and introduced himself as a CBI officer on special duty. Singh said Satish had shown an identity card and claimed he could secure a CBI job for his daughter, who recently graduated.
Singh alleged that the man initially took Rs 7,000 as a “registration fee”. On Monday, he allegedly demanded another Rs 12,000, saying he needed to buy a birthday gift — specifically a mobile phone — for the home secretary and would cover the remaining cost himself.Suspecting fraud, Singh alerted fellow advocates. When Satish returned to the court Tuesday, the lawyers confronted and apprehended him. TNN
