Fake Canada promise: 2 booked for cheating

Ludhiana: The Doraha police have booked a woman and her father on charges of cheating her husband by allegedly making a false promise of helping him settle in Canada and extracting money from them. The accused have been identified as Sehajdeep Kaur and her father Rajinder Singh of Lopon village.

Paramjeet Singh of Rajgarh village alleged that his son Jetha Singh got married to the accused on Jan 23, 2024 and she wished to go to Canada as she had requisite bands in IELTs. He added that they provide the accusedmonetary help with the condition that she would call his son to Canada and would live together.The complainant told cops that hehelpedthe accusedwith Rs. 14. 5 lakh, whichhetransferred into the account of her father.He claimed that though the accused sent the documents, she refused to accept his son there and also refused to stay with him. Acting on the complaint, The Doraha police have booked the accused for cheating. tnn
