Ex-servicemen to be engaged as railway pointsmen

Prayagraj: Prayagraj Division of North Central Railway (NCR) would engage ex-servicemen as pointsmen to strengthen railway safety and operational efficiency.A pointsman manually operates track switches (points) and signals to guide trains at junctions, yards and stations, ensuring smooth, safe movement by setting routes, preventing conflicts and assisting the station master. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard was signed between Prayagraj Division and the Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO), Lucknow, on Saturday. Under this, a total of 271 posts of pointsmen are to be filled through the engagement of ex-servicemen. The MoU was executed under the leadership and guidance of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Prayagraj Division, Rajneesh Agrawal. The MoU was signed on behalf of Prayagraj Division by senior divisional operations manager (coordination) Akanshu Govil and senior divisional personnel officer Vaibhav Kumar Gupta and Colonel (retd) Anurag Kumar from the AWPO. This MoU marks the beginning of a long-term and mutually beneficial collaboration between the 2 organisations. The discipline, dedication and rich experience of ex-servicemen are expected to play a vital role in strengthening railway safety and ensuring smooth train operations.
