Kolhapur: Two EVMs were found in an SUV at a dhaba in Solapur’s Mohol, hours after voting for the rural polls ended on Saturday. Election officials said they were from the reserve stock—to be used if other EVMs malfunctioned. Mohol returning officer Seema Holkar said the zonal officer given their charge left them in the SUV hired for poll duty. “We called the driver, who said he left the SUV with the owner. The owner runs a paan shop near the dhaba and he asked the zonal officers to collect the machines. We are sure all polled EVMs were immediately taken to the strong room.” Solapur NCP chief Umesh Patil, however, sought a repoll for the booth to which the EVMs belonged. TNN
