Kanpur : Elimination of measles and rubella was a national goal and surveillance systems must be strengthened at every level to achieve it, said district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh on Tuesday.He chaired an inter departmental coordination committee meeting to review the progress of the measels and rubella abolishition programme at the new auditorium at Sarsaiya ghat in Kanpur. The DM instructed for making it mandatory to report every measles-rubella case. Private doctors were also appealed to share information about the cases reported in their areas with the health department. Emphasis was laid on public awareness about these diseases.
The Bal Vikas Sewa department was asked to identify the children in SAM and MAM category.The minority welfare department was asked to increase communication on health issues and routine vaccination by holding meetings with religious leaders every month.
