Gandhinagar: The state govt on Tuesday announced elections in nine agriculture produce marketing committees (APMCs), while the terms of 15 were extended by six months.State agriculture minister Jitu Vaghani said that instructions were issued to the Directorate of Agriculture Marketing and Rural Finance to immediately initiate the process of announcing the election schedule for nine market committees whose terms expired. These include Bhanvad (Devbhumi Dwarka), Dholera (Ahmedabad), Talod (Sabarkantha), Sagbara (Narmada), Kukarmunda (Tapi), Surendranagar, Kamrej (Surat), Ranpur (Botad) and Barwala (Botad).An official statement quoting the minister said that due to the ongoing voter list revision (SIR) activities, the district registrar and office staff were occupied and, as a result, the APMCs of Thasra and Galteshwar in Kheda district, Diodar, Bhabhar and Dhanera in Banaskantha, Junagadh, Dholka and Bavla in Ahmedabad, Becharaji in Mehsana, Shehra in Panchmahal, Naswadi and Chhota Udepur in Chhota Udepur, Prantij in Sabarkantha, Gadhada in Botad, and Khambha in Amreli were granted a 6-month extension from the date of the announcement.
