Elections of co-op societies postponed by 6 months due to SIR work

Gandhinagar: The state govt said on Wednesday that elections to constitute management committees of cooperative societies were exempted for a period of six months due to the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in the state.Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, govt spokesperson Jitu Vaghani said, “Organising management committee elections for specified cooperative societies through the state revenue system would be challenging, and all such election processes were exempted from being conducted for six months from the date of today’s published notification.” The minister added that cooperative societies whose election processes are being conducted or are pending due to judicial orders or judgments were excluded from the notification.
