Here’s a delicious and easy Paneer Chilli recipe that you can make at home. It’s a popular Indo-Chinese dish with crispy paneer cubes tossed in a spicy, tangy sauce with bell peppers and onions.

Ingredients:
For Marination:
- 250g paneer (cut into cubes)
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp red chilli sauce
- ½ tsp black pepper powder
- Salt to taste
- Water (as needed for coating)
For Sauce:
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp garlic (finely chopped)
- 1 tbsp ginger (finely chopped)
- 1 green chilli (slit or chopped)
- 1 onion (cut into cubes)
- 1 capsicum (bell pepper, cut into cubes)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp red chilli sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tsp vinegar
- ½ tsp sugar
- ½ tsp black pepper powder
- ½ cup water or vegetable stock
- 1 tsp cornflour (mixed with 2 tbsp water for thickening)
- Spring onions for garnish
Instructions:
Step 1: Marinate & Fry Paneer
- In a bowl, mix cornflour, maida, soy sauce, chilli sauce, pepper powder, salt, and a little water to make a thick batter.
- Coat the paneer cubes in this batter.
- Heat oil in a pan and shallow-fry the paneer until golden and crispy. Remove and keep aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Sauce
- In the same pan, heat 1 tbsp oil and sauté ginger, garlic, and green chilli for 30 seconds.
- Add onions and capsicum, stir-fry for 2 minutes on high heat (keep them crunchy).
- Add soy sauce, chilli sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, sugar, pepper, and salt. Mix well.
- Pour in ½ cup water/stock and bring to a simmer.
- Add the cornflour slurry to thicken the sauce.
Step 3: Combine & Serve
- Add the fried paneer cubes and toss gently in the sauce.
- Garnish with spring onions.
- Serve hot with fried rice or noodles!
Tips:
- For extra crispiness, double-fry the paneer.
- Adjust spice levels by increasing or decreasing chilli sauce.
- Add a dash of sesame oil for extra flavor.
