Dy CM hears land-related grievances in Darbhanga
Bihar’s Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha engaged with citizens in Darbhanga, addressing numerous land dispute complaints. He highlighted ongoing public dialogues across the state aimed at resolving long-standing land issues. Sinha clarified that police cannot intervene in property possession or construction disputes, emphasizing the revenue department and courts’ roles. Janata Darbars will now occur at circle offices weekly.

Darbhanga: Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, who also holds the revenue and land reforms portfolio, on Saturday held a public dialogue on land reforms in Laheriasarai. A large number of people turned up with land-related complaints, which were heard by the deputy CM.Sinha said public dialogues are being organised after he took charge as minister to address people’s grievances. “The ailment is old, but the treatment has begun. The dialogue was launched in Patna on Dec 12 last year and has since been held in Lakhisarai, Muzaffarpur, Purnia, Saharsa, Bhagalpur and Gaya,” he said.

He added that CSC centres have been established in every circle office of the state, where trained operators are providing online services to aggrieved people at fixed charges.“A timeline has been fixed for the redressal of complaints,” Sinha said.Clarifying the role of the police, he said land disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the revenue department and the courts, and therefore the police cannot intervene in construction activities or in restoring possession of property.He further said that Janata Darbar will now be held every Saturday at circle offices instead of police stations, and SHOs will attend the meetings at the circle offices.
