Pune: Two unknown men on Friday evening snatched a bag containing Rs 7.9 lakh from the driver of a transport operator near Yavat, about 42 km from Pune.At the time of the incident, the driver was on his way from a bank to the transport operator’s office at Chaufula village. The Yavat police registered a case under section 309 (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the unknown men.An officer from the Yavat police said according to the complainant, his owner gave him Rs 3 lakh to deposit in a bank at Varvand village in Daund taluka on Friday. The victim went to the bank on his two-wheeler and deposited the cash. He was waiting for the owner’s relative, who was coming to the bank with more cash.“The relative brought additional Rs 11.9 lakh, of which the complainant deposited Rs 4 lakh in the bank. He was told to hand over the remaining Rs 7.9 lakh to the owner,” the officer from the Pune Rural police said.He said when the victim reached near his motorcycle; he found that the front tyre was punctured. “As he was carrying the cash with him, the victim decided to go to a repair shop. He kept the bag containing cash in front of himself on the fuel tank and was riding slowly towards a puncture repair shop. At this time, two men on a motorcycle forced him to stop. The pillion rider snatched his bag of cash and fled.”“The victim mentioned the detailed description of the duo in his complaint. We have fanned teams to trace the duo,” he said.
