Noida: The district legal services authority (DLSA), GB Nagar, on Tuesday organised an awareness camp to sensitise members of the legal fraternity about an initiative of the Allahabad High Court — Now your judgement in your own language.

Launched in March 2024, the scheme aims to make judgments of the High Court and the Supreme Court available in Hindi. The initiative uses SUVAS (Supreme Court Vidhik Anuvaad Software), a machine-assisted translation tool powered by artificial intelligence, which enables near-perfect translation of English judgments into Hindi, making them easier for the public to understand and interpret. Secretary, DLSA, additional district judge Chandramohan Srivastava said that details of the instructions issued by the Supreme Court and the Allahabad High Court regarding the use of the software were shared with panel advocates, paralegal volunteers, mediators and advocates nominated in the legal aid defence counsel system (LADCS) of the DLSA.

He appealed to them to spread legal awareness among the general public by informing people about the availability of such platforms, which allow access to original judgments and their translations. The Suvas Prakoshtha camp was headed by additional district judge Saurabh Dwivedi, while additional chief judicial magistrate (First) Mayank Tripathi served as the nodal officer. Srivastava said that maximum publicity and awareness would be created through the District Bar Association and para-legal volunteers, in collaboration with the district administration, local authorities and institutions such as law colleges and universities, so that more people are aware of and benefit from the facility.
