Kanpur: A DJ-laden tractor trolley returning from a Ganga bath at Dhaighat overturned on Sunday due to overspeeding, killing a 10-year-old boy and injuring 11 people, including family members in Farrukhabad.The incident occurred near Budhi Ganga at Dhalghat in the late evening hours, when 50 people from village Milikiya Paharpur in the Nawabganj police station area, travelling in two tractor-trolleys, were returning home after taking bath. One of the tractor-trolleys had a DJ system installed, and more than 12 youths were dancing on it.
Police said a race began between both drivers to overtake each other. Due to this, the overspeeding DJ-laden tractor’s trolley lost control near Budhi Ganga at Dhai Ghat and overturned on the road. All people, including youths riding in the trolley, were injured. On receiving information, police and two ambulances reached the spot and took the injured to the Community Health Centre for admission where Dr Aleem declared child Ritik (10), son of Ram Lakhan, dead, while seriously injured Prachi (12), daughter of Awdhesh, was referred to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.Injured Rajrani (40), Ashu (13) son of Keshav, Bijendra (20) son of Suresh, Nikhil, and driver Nitin were admitted to the hospital. Four others with minor injuries were treated by private doctors.The body was sent for postmortem. As news of the incident spread, a crowd of villagers gathered at the CHC.Station officer Ramesh Singh said that the child died due to the trolley overturning. His body has been sent for postmortem. Other injured have been admitted to CHC.
