Pune: The Dighi police on Tuesday rescued 17 women and busted a sex racket operating from a hotel on Alandi-Charholi Road.Inspector Vinayak Patil of the Dighi police told TOI that the police received a tip-off that a sex racket was being operated from a hotel located along the Alandi-Charholi Road. The police sent a decoy for confirmation. “After confirmation, our team raided the hotel in the early hours on Tuesday,” he said.The officer said the police found as many as 17 women in different rooms of the hotel. Most of these women belonged from other states and were forced into prostitution by the accused. The police arrested two managers and four workers at the hotel.He added that the police placed all the women into a rescue home. Patil said, “We are searching for the owner and another person who ran the sex racket.”He said the police registered the case under Section 143 (trafficking of person) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the relevant sections of the The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
