Amritsar: A delegation of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has met Delhi police commissioner Satish Golchha and urged for the registration of a case against the leader of opposition in Delhi assembly, Atishi, for making “derogatory remarks” about the Sikh Gurus, stated a release issued by the SGPC here on Wednesday.The delegation, including junior vice-president Baldev Singh Kalyan, executive member Gurpreet Singh Jhabbar, Haryana Sikh Mission in-charge Sukhwinder Singh, and Delhi Sikh Mission in-charge Manveet Singh, also submitted an application to the police commissioner.
The SGPC delegation in its application submitted that on Jan 6, former Delhi chief minister Atishi allegedly used derogatory words against the Sikh Gurus inside the Delhi assembly, which deeply hurt the Sikh sentiments. The words she used were also recorded in the official proceedings of the assembly, stated the release.The delegation further mentioned that the teachings of the Sikh Gurus provided guidance for all of humanity. The Sikh community always promoted social harmony and brotherhood, rising above distinctions of caste, creed, and race, in accordance with the principles of the Gurus, they submitted.The remarks made by the AAP leader against the Gurus deeply hurt the religious sentiments of Sikhs worldwide, the delegation added.It was also alleged that these comments were made deliberately, reflecting the accused leader’s mindset towards the Sikh community.MSID:: 126988040 413 |
