Noida: Home to nearly 20,000 residents, Sector 19, one of the earlier sectors of Noida, faces deplorable conditions in its main park as well as the open gym facilities. Complaints from residents highlight issues of neglect and poor upkeep that persisted for months, with little to no action taken by authorities.RC Gupta, president of the Sector 19 RWA, said that the sector’s main park in C block is in shambles. “Garbage is scattered everywhere, and the lack of cleaning is alarming. This is impacting hundreds of residents, particularly our senior citizens who visit the park daily,” Gupta said.He also called for the approval of a revamp for the open gym in the park to accommodate the growing number of senior citizens who rely on these facilities for their health and wellbeing. Residents noted that despite Noida Authority allocating significant funds for the park’s maintenance, these resources are not being utilised.“The open gym, which should be a facility for promoting fitness, is in a deplorable state. We urge the authority to take this matter seriously,” Gupta added. The RWA voiced their concerns regarding the state of the park and the gym to horticulture department officials, emphasising the need for immediate action. “Despite repeated complaints to the authorities in recent months, there was no improvement,” said Laxmi Narain, RWA general secretary.Noida officials said that the situation will be addressed and that work to improve the park’s condition will commence soon.
