Ludhiana: Around 10-15 persons allegedly attacked a delivery boy in Jassiyan Road area while he was returning home from work on Saturday evening. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Shivam.His father Lakhminder said his son worked as a delivery boy with a logistics company and on Saturday late evening, when his son was returning home after duty, more than a dozen persons with allegedly sharp-edged weapons and sticks attacked him near Rajouri Garden. He alleged that the accused attacked him without a reason. The family members said that since their son was alone, he couldn’t escape after being attacked by the assailants. They added that the miscreants caused serious injuries in the head of the victim.
As per the family, Shivam was rushed to hospital in an unconscious condition. Nitish Dhawan, an acquaintance of Shivam, said that some days ago, the sister of Shivam’s friend was harassed by the assailants after which he had requested them not to trouble her and angered by that reportedly they attacked him. The investigating officer of the matter, ASI Sukhwinder Singh. has said that the police had started probing the matter after it received the complaint. Sources said the cops were scanning CCTV cameras in the area to identify the assailants and they would be identified soon.
