Pune: The Lonikand police arrested a delivery agent, Shailendra Vhatkar, of Bokori near Wagholi, on the charge of stabbing his wife to death at an open plot in Wadebolhai around 9.30pm on Thursday.Senior inspector Sarjerao Kumbhar of Lonikand police told TOI, “Vhatkar (30) and his 20-year-old wife Namrata were dealing with some domestic issues. Their daily issues came to a point where Namrata left Vhatkar’s house and started staying separately for the last 2 months.”“Vhatkar, who works for a quick commerce company, had gifted some gold jewellery to Namrata after their marriage. After Namrata started living separately, he continuously demanded the gold jewellery from her. However, she refused to return it to Vhatkar,” he said.“On Thursday, he called her to the open area to discuss their relationship. Namrata reached the spot and they started arguing. Vhatkar then pulled out a knife and stabbed her to death,” he said.“Our team reached the spot after receiving an emergency call and nabbed Vhatkar from the spot. He was produced before a city court, and the court remanded him in police custody till Tuesday,” he said.
