Gurgaon: A Delhi Police constable and a conductor died after a private bus rammed into a truck from behind amid dense fog on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Nuh on Thursday morning.Police said visibility had dropped sharply due to heavy fog as the bus approached the stretch near Shekhpur village around 7.30am. Unable to spot the truck ahead in time, the bus crashed into it with such force that its front portion was crushed, trapping passengers inside. Two men died on the spot. They were Mohar Singh Meena (35), a Delhi Police constable, and Bhawani Singh Rajput (40), the bus conductor. Meena, a resident of Baijupala in Rajasthan’s Dausa district, was returning to Delhi to resume duty, while Rajput was from Alwar.“Five to six passengers suffered serious injuries in the collision and were rushed to Mandikhera hospital in ambulances.
They are undergoing treatment there. Their condition is stable,” an officer said.Emergency teams reached the site soon after the crash. “On receiving information, police teams, highway patrolling staff and ambulance services immediately reached the spot. Those injured were evacuated and shifted to hospital, while the damaged vehicles were removed to restore traffic movement on the expressway,” a senior police officer said. The bodies were sent for autopsy. “The reports are awaited. Legal action will be initiated when a complaint is received from the family members,” the officer added.Police said the bus was operating on the Balaji-Dhaula Kuan route and the crash occurred near Gujar Nangla village. Preliminary inquiry pointed to poor visibility due to fog as the primary cause, though investigators are also examining factors such as speed and whether a safe distance was maintained.Traffic on the expressway was briefly disrupted, with vehicles moving at a snail’s pace for nearly an hour before normal flow was restored.
