DELHI: Two days after a property dealer was shot dead in North East Delhi’s Shastri Park, police arrested three men in connection with the case.The accused have been identified as Rehman, Adil, and Ayan, who are allegedly associated with gangster Washim Hasmat.The incident was reported at around 11.25 pm on January 24, when Shastri Park police station received information about a firing near the Buland Masjid area. When the police reached the spot, they found that the victim—identified as Sameer alias Mustaqeem alias Kammu Pehalwan, a resident of Buland Masjid, Shastri Park—had already been rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital by his family members, where doctors declared him dead.According to police, Sameer had gone out for a walk after dinner. Earlier that night, he had taken his young daughter to a doctor and returned home. After dinner, at around 11 pm, he stepped out, informing his family that he would be going for a short walk.Police said that when Sameer reached Bihari Chowk, a short distance from his house, he received a phone call. While he was still on the call, four assailants allegedly arrived on foot, surrounded him, and opened fire.Following a tip-off from a secret informer, police laid a trap near Ajmal Khan Park in Sector-28, Rohini. At around 11.45 pm, a white scooty carrying three men was intercepted and signalled to stop. Police said that upon being surrounded, the suspects opened fire at the police team.The three accused were subsequently overpowered and arrested by the raiding party.
