NEW DELHI: Three men wanted in connection with a murder case in northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park were injured in a police encounter in the Rohini area on Wednesday, Delhi Police said to news agency ANI. According to police, a Crime Branch team from the Shakarpur unit received specific intelligence that the accused would be present near Rohini Sector 28. Acting on the tip-off, the team laid a trap to apprehend them. Police said that when the suspects arrived at the spot and were challenged to surrender, they allegedly opened fire on the police personnel. A brief exchange of fire followed, during which the police retaliated to subdue the accused. “All three criminals sustained gunshot injuries to their legs,” a police official said, adding that they were overpowered and taken into custody. The injured accused were admitted to a hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Police said further investigation is underway.(With agency inputs)
