Dance floor ego sparks 22-man wedding riot in Ludhiana.

Ludhiana: A pre-wedding celebration in Indirapuri descended into chaos on Tuesday as a dispute over space on the dance floor escalated into a violent assault, leaving five members of the family hospitalised.The victims, including two women, were allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons by a rival group of guests who returned to the venue with a mob of 20 accomplices after an initial verbal spat. The attackers also vandalized the host’s home and destroyed household property before fleeing the scene.Videos of the bloody encounter have since gone viral on social media, prompting a swift crackdown by Ludhiana police. The complainant, 28-year-old Vinay of Tajpur Bet, has told police he was attending the function for his wife’s relative when the trouble began. It’s claimed in the FIR that the accused — identified as Sukhdev Singh and his son, Harman Singh — pushed Vinay’s family off the dance floor deliberately.Vinay stated: “When I objected, they started abusing us. Other guests intervened and they left, but they returned shortly after with a gang of armed men.” The injured include Vinay (28), his wife, Harbilas Kumar (Vinay’s father-in-law), His mother-in-law, and another relative.Police ActionFollowing the viral footage of the clash, a case was registered at the Division Number 7 police station against 22 individuals. Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-IV) Jashandeep Singh Gill confirmed that the brawl had occurred between two groups of relatives. The accused face multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 118 (voluntarily causing hurt by weapons), 191(3) (armed rioting), and 324(4) (mischief causing damage).
