Cycle ride held at Danapur cantonment to honour Bihar Regiment bravehearts

Patna: A commemorative cycle ride was organised under the aegis of the Jharkhand and Bihar Sub Area headquarters at Danapur cantonment on Sunday to pay tribute to the bravehearts of the Bihar Regiment. The event, themed “Every pedal a tribute, every mile a memory”, saw the participation of 118 cyclists, including officers and personnel of the regiment.General officer commanding (GOC), Jharkhand and Bihar Sub Area, Major General Vikas Bhardwaj flagged off the 20-km ride from the Bihar Regimental Centre (BRC). The route extended from the BRC to Ganga Path. The ride not only honoured the regiment’s soldiers but also underscored the importance of fitness, discipline and patriotism — values that define the spirit of the Indian Army, Maj General Bhardwaj said.Addressing participants before the flag-off, he highlighted the dual purpose of the event. “This event is not just a tribute to the brave hearts of the Bihar Regiment, but also a test of physical fitness, discipline and patriotism. These values are what every soldier lives by, and this ride symbolises the commitment of our forces to uphold these ideals,” he said.Participants displayed strong camaraderie as they pedalled together, reflecting the discipline and teamwork synonymous with military ethos. The event also strengthened the bond between the armed forces and the local community, fostering pride and respect for the regiment’s sacrifices, he added. As the riders passed through city streets and the serene Ganga Path stretch, the significance of the tribute resonated with each pedal stroke, a senior BRC officer said. The programme concluded with a brief ceremony where Maj General Bhardwaj commended participants for their dedication.Bihar Ex Servicemen president Col V K Singh described the ride as a fitting tribute to the regiment’s legacy.
