Pune: The Pune Cyber police have arrested four more men from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in connection with the Rs 22-crore online share-trading fraud targetting an 85-year-old Hadapsar resident. Eight people have been arrested in the case so far.Police have also frozen Rs 3.24 crore across multiple bank accounts after scrutinising nearly 40,000 transactions. Joint police commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma said, “We have arrested Sahil Shrisundaram (22), Vishwajeet Khandare (21), Abhjit Nade (21) and Dishant Kamble (22) Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in the case.”Additional commissioner of police (crime) Pankaj Deshmukh said, “Our investigation found that the defrauded amount was initially routed to several bank accounts in West Bengal (first layer). It was then transferred to accounts in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (second layer).”He said the probe helped identify the operators of mule bank accounts through which the money was funnelled, ultimately leading the team to the suspects.Earlier, the police had arrested Munilkumar Surendra Singh (51) of Ambarnath in Thane, along with Akash Chandrashekhar Marathe (27), Lala Keshav Umap (26) and Parmeshwar Dilip Dabhade (23) from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.Senior inspector Swapnali Shinde said, “Kamble, who holds a BCS degree and works with a courier firm, is suspected to have procured mule bank accounts from economically disadvantaged individuals by offering them small sums. We also believe he may have shared bank account details of his handlers, possibly foreign-based, through courier channels.”Shinde said police examined over 40,000 bank transactions and froze multiple accounts where the fraud money had been parked, recovering Rs 3.24 crore so far.The case began after a retired entrepreneur filed a complaint on Jan 19, alleging that he had been cheated of Rs 22 crore by fraudsters who lured him with promises of high returns from online share trading.
