Panaji: A local court dismissed an application for anticipatory bail by Shon Shilton Silveira in connection with the alleged murder of Kapil Chaudhary, a 19-year-old tourist from Uttar Pradesh, at Tivim, in Nov by a rent-a-car agency owner and others.Public prosecutor Coleman Rodrigues told the court that, according to the investigation, the investigating officer tried to trace Silveira, and since he was not traceable, a notice was sent to his father, who informed him that his son no more stayed with him and did not share his address. The public prosecutor further stated that he was absconding and avoiding joining the investigation in the present case, which was a serious offence. The court held that the contention that he went only to identify the victim, who was alive at the time, held no good, as the tower location of Silveira depicted his presence there between 6.27pm and 8.52pm. The court also did not accept Silveira’s contention that he was a whistle-blower and said he ought to have informed the police about the incident of assault on the deceased.
