Mohali: A Mohali court has acquitted two men in a 2016 Zirakpur carjacking case, holding that police failed to establish their identity or link them to the crime. Complainant Ravi Sharma had reported that three unidentified men snatched his car at gunpoint near Gopal Sweets on Nov 19, 2016.During trial, Sharma could not identify the accused — Parvinder Singh alias Pinda and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi — and also confirmed that no formal identification proceedings were conducted during the probe. The court noted that neither the stolen car nor robbed items were recovered, and no witness could connect the accused to the offence. The court extended the benefit of doubt to both men and acquitted them. tnn
