Cops write to CMO, seek med board probe into tubectomy death

Prayagraj: Police officers wrote to the Prayagraj CMO on Saturday, seeking the constitution of a medical board to probe the death of a 25-year-old woman, who allegedly died due to medical negligence during a tubectomy at the Chaka Community Health Centre. Naini police have already registered an FIR under Section 105 of BNS against the medical and paramedical staff of the CHC.DCP (Yamuna Nagar) Vivek Chandra Yadav told TOI, “We have approached district health authorities to constitute a medical board to investigate the botched-up surgery. We will take an appropriate action once the report arrives.” Supreme Court has taken a strong stance against medical negligence in sterilization procedures, ordering that specialized medical boards or committees be constituted to investigate deaths and ensure accountability, he said. The woman’s death on Friday evening sparked protests, with her family and others blocking the block headquarters road. Senior cops stepped in, assured them an FIR would be lodged, and eventually calmed the situation. Police stated the woman’s condition worsened post-tubectomy, and she was referred to SRN Hospital, where she was declared dead.
