Gurgaon: Security and surveillance have been heightened by police around the office and residence of Deepender Goyal, founder of food delivery platform Zomato‘s parent company Eternal Limited, after he received a death threat.Police had received a tip-off a few days ago that some antisocial elements were planning to target Goyal or open fire at his office in the city. Senior police officers ordered immediate security measures to prevent any attack, according to sources.

Security personnel have been deployed outside Goyal’s properties in the city, and multiple police and crime teams have been placed on alert. Sources said Goyal was informed about the threat. Police have not officially confirmed the threat against Goyal. A police officer said deployment near the entrepreneur’s office was part of Republic Day security arrangements. Sources, however, said senior officers are monitoring the situation and that enhanced measures are being taken as a precaution. Sources also said teams from the local police station, along with multiple crime units, are closely monitoring the area around the businessman’s office. On Wednesday, Goyal announced he is stepping down as group CEO of Eternal Limited, subject to shareholder approval. He will remain on the board as vice chairman.
