Gurgaon: A sub-inspector was injured after a Haryana-registered dumper truck rammed into a police patrol car in Bilaspur on Thursday. Police said the driver tried to run over the personnel when the patrol car signalled it to stop. The driver and the cleaner abandoned the truck on the road and fled.Sub-Inspector Rakesh, along with SPO Hemant and head constable Narendra, were on night patrol on Thursday. When they reached near the Electricity Board office, two men on a scooter, Krishna and Anup, alerted them that a dumper bearing the number HR38AG9961 had struck an auto rickshaw near TLC Company. They told the cops the rickshaw driver was injured, but the dumper had fled.Police chased the dumper. Near Bilaspur Chowk, the truck slowed after the patrol car intercepted them. The car was parked their vehicle on the left side of the road. The cleaner allegedly provoked the driver to ram into the police car. The dumper hit the vehicle from behind at high speed and pushed it 10 to 15 feet ahead.The SI sustained injuries to the left side of his head and ear and on his left thumb and the right side of his stomach. Police said the dumper driver and the cleaner abandoned the truck and fled, taking the keys with them.The cops alerted the police control room, following which an emergency response vehicle reached the spot. Police have seized the dumper.The injured SI was first taken to CHC Pataudi and later referred to Civil Hospital, Sector 10, Gurgaon, for further treatment.Police registered an FIR against the driver and the cleaner on Friday under sections 109(1) (attempt to murder), 121(1) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a public servant), 132 (using assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging their duty), 221 (voluntary obstruction of any public servant performing their official duties), 54 (abettor present when an offence is committed), and 324(4) (mischief) of the BNS at Bilaspur police station.
