Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao on Friday said that the Congress govt owed Rs 60,000 to every woman, as it had promised to provide Rs 2,500 a month as financial assistance under the Maha Laxmi scheme during the assembly elections.
Over the past two years, the govt had failed to pay this amount, he said, adding that when KCR was in power, every woman received a saree for Bathukamma.Speaking at various meetings at Jinnaram in Medak, Naspur in Mancherial, and other areas as part of municipal elections campaigning, the former minister said that Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was paying a monthly pension of Rs 4,000.He said KCR had promised to increase the monthly pension during the 2014 assembly elections and fulfilled it in the very first month after taking office.
In contrast, Revanth Reddy had promised a Rs 4,000 but failed to implement it even after two years. “In Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu promised and is extending Rs 4,000. Why is Revanth Reddy unable to do it here?” he asked.Harish said Jinnaram was made a municipality only to burden people with taxes. “When BRS was in power, we wanted Jinnaram to remain a gram panchayat to avoid imposing a tax burden on the people. However, soon after the Congress came to power, the govt made Jinnaram into a municipality and imposed taxes. Now, who should we vote for? We should vote for those who took good care of us and reduced our burden,” he asked. He alleged that after Revanth Reddy came to power, out of the five crop seasons, Rythu Bharosa was extended only for two seasons. He added that the govt introduced new rules, stating that the scheme would be extended only to those cultivating land, based on satellite images, causing distress among farmers.“In this municipal election, if you vote for the car symbol, Revanth Reddy will be forced to fulfil his promises out of fear.
They say they will give Rs 5,000 for a vote, but do not be deceived. For women to receive Rs 60,000 and aged persons to get a Rs 4,000 pension, BRS must win,” he said. Urging voters to be patient for another two years, he said the KCR-led govt would return and solve Jinnaram’s issues. He claimed that BRS was the only party that stood by minorities and implemented the Shaadi Mubarak scheme, adding that the CM had not done a single thing for Muslims.
