Chennai: Congress MPs B Manickam Tagore and S Jothimani on Sunday hit out at DMK MLA from Madurai North, G Thalapathy, for his remarks criticising Congress. Manickam Tagore said on X that he would seek to contest from Madurai North in the upcoming election, where Thalapathy is sitting MLA. “Some people need to be taught a lesson to safeguard dignity. The era when alliance partners remained silent in the face of authoritarian arrogance is over,” Tagore said.His remarks came in response to Thalapathy’s speech at a language martyrs day public meet in Madurai, where he alleged that Tagore and Jothimani were raising the issue of power sharing to jeopardize the alliance as they had become MPs and were not concerned about assembly elections. Hence, they should not be allotted seats in future, Thalapathy said. Jothimani asked Thalapathy not to drag her into the controversy and warned that she would be forced to retaliate. “Our leader Rahul Gandhi will decide who contests which seat. No one has sought your advice. We will not remain silent while Congress is publicly humiliated in this manner,” she said. TNN
