Ahmedabad: A complaint was lodged with Vastrapur police after a Congress functionary alleged that his party office in Thaltej was damaged during ongoing redevelopment work in the area.In his complaint filed on Wednesday, 58-year-old Mukesh Panchal, a local trader and Gujarat Pradesh Congress state secretary, stated that his office is located at Sapna Apartment near Jivandeep Crossroads in Thaltej. The society is being redeveloped by a private developer, with whom several residents, including the complainant, were in discussions. However, seven society members reportedly declined handing over their properties for the project.Panchal told police he had closed his office around 6pm on Monday. When he returned around 10.30am on Wednesday, he found that a portion of the wall had been broken and a window shade was damaged. Suspecting that the damage may have been caused during construction activity, possibly by a drilling machine, Panchal alerted the police control room. A police team visited the spot, after which he approached Vastrapur police station to file a formal complaint. Panchal has put to the loss to an estimated Rs 1 lakh and had sought action against the machine operator responsible for the alleged damage.
