Congress grappling with leadership crisis: Union minister Bittu

Amritsar: Union minister of state for railways Ravneet Singh Bittu on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Punjab Congress and its leadership. While talking to mediapersons, the minister made several strong and controversial remarks, targeting ex-MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu and former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi.Referring to Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s alleged remark describing Rahul Gandhi as “Pappu”, Bittu said the comment reflected the internal reality and growing frustration within the Congress party. He claimed that the day the Punjab Congress announced its chief ministerial face, several other party leaders also began making similar remarks about Rahul Gandhi, exposing deep-rooted divisions within the party.Bittu alleged that the Congress was undergoing a severe leadership crisis, with internal factionalism now out in the open. According to him, the party’s condition deteriorated to such an extent that no leader demonstrated stable thinking or decisive leadership. He accused Congress leaders of being driven by personal political interests rather than the welfare of the party or the public.Taking a swipe at the former CM Channi, Bittu remarked that the same leader who once sought entry into the party was now openly questioning the Congress leadership and its functioning.
