Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has alleged that an insolvent company, KLSR Infratech Ltd, was awarded nearly 6,000 crore worth of contracts by the Congress govt. He said the company got contracts in Jal Jeevan Mission, Young India residential schools construction, irrigation projects and road development projects.Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, KTR questioned how an insolvent firm from 2023 onwards could be granted govt contracts between 2024 and 2026, and pointed out that the Supreme Court had raised concerns over the company’s ability to furnish massive bank guarantees despite allegedly lacking even 15 lakh to pay employee salaries. He demanded that CM A Revanth Reddy explain how such a financially distressed company was awarded contracts of this magnitude, particularly in the municipal administration department and in the CM’s own constituency. The BRS leader also said the SC had directed both the Centre and the state govts to investigate the inflow of hundreds of crores into the company and examine attempts to influence judicial proceedings. He said the apex court recently issued notices to the Telangana govt seeking clarification on large-scale financial transactions continuing in the company despite its insolvency proceedings, as well as allegations relating to attempts to influence judicial processes. He said the SC also issued notices seeking investigations by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) and Enforcement Directorate (ED).He alleged that, in order to divert attention from these notices, Revanth Reddy orchestrated a political spectacle using SIT notices relating to telephone tapping cases involving BRS leaders, including Harish Rao, ex-MP Santosh Rao and party chief K Chandrashekar Rao.“Union minister G Kishan Reddy should exert pressure on the Centre to ensure an impartial inquiry. If BJP was not shielding Revanth Reddy, it must demonstrate its sincerity by supporting the probe,” the BRS leader said.Expressing his doubts that the matter involved corruption, criminal conspiracy, abuse of power and alleged money laundering, he demanded immediate action from both the Centre and the state govt. KTR said the authorities must halt all operations of KLSR company and blacklist it until a full investigation was completed.KTR demanded that the Telangana govt immediately allow an impartial CBI-led probe as directed by the Supreme Court. Until then, he sought cancellation of all contracts awarded to KLSR, suspension of ongoing works and blacklisting the company from future tenders.Though several attempts were made to get its version, KLSR Infratech did not react to allegations levelled against it by KTR. Telangana chief minister’s office (CMO) did not comment on KTR’s allegation. When contacted, Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud refused to comment, stating he was busy with municipal elections in Nizamabad and did know what KTR alleged.
