Hyderabad: Urging people to vote for the BRS in the upcoming municipal elections, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said that voting for the Congress would amount to endorsing the anti-people policies being implemented by the govt. He said that every vote against Congress in the polls should serve as a lesson for deceiving the people.Speaking during roadshows and corner meetings in Sircilla and Vemulawada on Friday, the former minister said people now have an opportunity to teach a lesson to the Congress govt, which failed to implement six guarantees made during the assembly elections. “If the Congress is not stopped now, it will further oppress the people,” he said, criticising the party for its tarnished reputation due to ‘corruption, illegal activities, and scams’.Lashing out at the BJP, he said that voting for the saffron party was similar to wasting a valuable vote. He mocked the BJP for appearing only during elections and disappearing after gaining power through caste and religious votes. Criticising Union minister Bandi Sanjay, KTR said he had achieved nothing for the erstwhile Karimnagar district or Telangana.KTR pointed out that the BJP govt, despite being in power for 12 years, did not allocate a single additional rupee to Telangana and lacked the capability to bring the much-needed mega power loom cluster to Sircilla. He accused the BJP of limiting itself to caste and religious politics. He claimed that the Congress govt under chief minister Revanth Reddy was deceiving all sections of society. He said the govt failed to fulfil its promises and urged people to respond appropriately in the elections to Congress leaders who, he alleged, insulted weavers by cancelling Bathukamma saree production and damaging their livelihood. He called for a strong electoral response to Congress leaders who made derogatory remarks about weavers. The BRS leader alleged that Revanth Reddy was threatening to remove Sircilla district and warned that voting for the Congress would endanger the district’s existence. He criticised the Congress for promising large budget allocations for minorities, SCs, STs, and BCs but not releasing a single rupee. He urged people not to fall for the small amounts of money offered by Congress and to ensure a massive victory for the BRS.
