Dibrugarh: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a final inspection of the northeast’s first Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) at Moran in Dibrugarh on Thursday, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on Feb 14, when his aircraft will make a historic landing on the national highway, reports Rajib Dutta.The CM, accompanied by top officials, arrived at the ELF site at 6.20pm to review preparations for Modi’s groundbreaking visit, which will see him become the first sitting PM to land on a highway airstrip in the northeast . During the visit, Modi will formally inaugurate the strategic facility and witness a 30-minute aerial demonstration by the Indian Air Force.For the second consecutive day, dress rehearsals were conducted on Thursday, with fighter jets and other aircraft performing practice runs to ensure flawless execution during the main event. The trial runs follow Wednesday’s aerial display when Sukhoi-30s, Rafale fighters, indigenous Tejas jets, Hercules transporters and Antonov AN-32 aircraft performed landing and take-off manoeuvres on the specially constructed 4.2-km highway airstrip.
