CM inaugurates new power sub-station to boost metro operations

New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta on Friday inaugurated a new Electric Receiving Sub-Station (RSS) at Park Street near the Central Vista, a key infrastructure addition aimed at ensuring uninterrupted power supply to Delhi Metro. “Today, the Park Street Electric Receiving Sub-Station (RSS) was inaugurated, which will ensure uninterrupted power supply in the major metro corridors. While planting trees on the campus, this resolve was also reiterated: development and environmental conservation must go hand in hand. Every new project, every new structure, also reminds us of our responsibility towards a green future,” the CM said. The sub-station, completed in just 18 months, was built using advanced technology to ensure reliable, failure-free power supply to Metro operations. The facility will strengthen services on critical routes and cater to the expansion of the Metro network. “A Metro-centric transport system is key to providing affordable, accessible and environmentally sustainable public transport for the capital,” Gupta said. The CM office said the newly commissioned RSS will supply power to the Airport Line, Violet Line (Line 6), and the upcoming Central Vista Metro Line. An additional 25 kV feeders were installed to ensure smoother and more reliable operations across these corridors. All essential electrical equipment at the sub-station was newly installed, and the facility was developed in line with modern technical and safety standards. It is equipped with an advanced sub-station automation system, energy-efficient VRF air-conditioning, and modern security infrastructure. The project was also designed in accordance with green building norms, aligning with Delhi’s push for sustainable urban infrastructure.
