Bengaluru: A four-day Indian classical music festival will begin at Chowdiah Memorial Hall on Sankey Road on Feb 5, bringing together leading and upcoming Carnatic musicians.The 17th edition of the annual festival, organised by the Bengaluru-based Bharatiya Samagana Sabha, is themed “Purana Gitam”, according to a statement from the organisers. Two evening concerts are scheduled each day. The second session will feature performances by Carnatic vocalists Sivasri Skandaprasad on Feb 5, Sandeep Narayan on Feb 6, Harisankar on Feb 7 and the Ranjani-Gayatri duo on Feb 8.
The first session line-up includes a vocal concert by Dhanya Dinesh Rudrapatnam on Feb 5, a vocal duet by Archana and Samanvi on Feb 6, and a classical ensemble led by violinist Apoorva Krishna and her team.The Sabha will also present its annual honours on the occasion. Violin maestros Ganesh and Kumaresh will receive the Samagana Mathanga Award, while young Carnatic vocalist Spoorthi Rao will be conferred the Samagana Vasantha Award on the evening of Feb 7.
