Class 12 student dragged from home and stabbed by group with ice pick in Faridabad

Gurgaon: A Class 12 student was dragged out of his house, assaulted with sticks and stabbed in the neck with an ice pick by a group of youths in Ballabhgarh’s Chawla Colony in Faridabad on Jan 25. Police said a case of attempted kidnapping and assault has been registered against seven unidentified men.The daylight attack, captured on CCTV, left the student with multiple injuries. The victim, identified as Prakash, is undergoing treatment. Police said the motive behind the assault is not yet established, as the victim claimed he did not know the assailants. Police, however, suspect the attack may be linked to an earlier dispute of the victim during a Saraswati idol immersion event.According to police, the incident occurred around 4pm when Prakash, a student of a school in Sector 7, was at home preparing to bathe. A group of youths arrived in a Maruti Suzuki Baleno, forcibly entered his house and dragged him out onto the street. CCTV footage shows the attackers attempting to push him into the vehicle. Prakash resisted and managed to free himself.After failing to abduct him, the assailants allegedly beat Prakash with wooden sticks. During the assault, one of them stabbed Prakash in the neck with an ice pick. The attackers fled after residents gathered, alerted by the victim’s cries.Prakash was rushed to a nearby hospital by his family members. His brother, Akash, who is a vegetable vendor, said the family was traumatised by the attack. “We had never seen the attackers before. The incident has left us in shock,” he said.City Ballabhgarh SHO inspector Shamsher Singh said, “The suspects are believed to be from Sector 4. Multiple teams have been formed, and raids are underway to arrest them. CCTV footage from the area is being analysed to identify the accused and trace their movements.”
