Lucknow: Chirping birds, more green spaces, and upgraded civic infrastructure. Residents will soon get to see as well as enjoy these facilities as the Lucknow Development Authority has approved development and beautification works worth nearly Rs 195 crore in various parts of the city.The projects include construction of new parks, an aviary, open gyms along with improved streetlighting and better drainage systems.

The approvals were granted during a meeting of the Infrastructure Development Fund chaired by divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant on Friday. The meeting was attended by LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar, municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar and senior officials and engineers.A key project that is likely to draw public interest is the development of an aviary at the Gomti Biodiversity Park in Gomtinagar. It will be built on one acre land and cost Rs 10 crore. Prathamesh Kumar said the Gomti Biodiversity Park will be developed on land reclaimed from the Sahara Group. He explained that trees and plants will be selected according to the natural habitats of different bird species, allowing visitors to observe birds in an environment close to nature.Another key project will be the construction of a Constitution Park near the high court on 2,500 square metres of green belt at an estimated cost of Rs 6 crore. The park will create awareness about the Indian Constitution among the public and feature elements such as the Ashoka Pillar, panel walls, Indian map, a parliament-shaped structure, murals and landscaped areas.Several new parks and recreational spaces will come up in different parts of the city to provide residents with more options for sports, leisure and family outings.

A mini sports area will be developed near the Gwari flyover in Gomtinagar at a cost of Rs 8 crore and offer outdoor games and physical activities, while a Lotus Park, to be built with an outlay of Rs 8.5 crore, will have landscaped green spaces and relaxation areas for the public.Along the Gomti riverfront, a Wonder Park will be built at a cost of Rs 6 crore. The park is being planned mainly for children and will include interactive and play-based attractions to encourage learning and recreation.

In Arjunganj, a Pandav Park will be developed with an investment of Rs 5 crore and will be themed around characters from the Mahabharata, with sculptures, murals and design elements depicting the Pandavas, aimed at combining recreation with cultural and mythological awareness.In the Kanpur Road scheme area, an Insectopedia Park will be set up at the Eco-Garden under the public-private partnership mode. The park, to be built at a cost of around Rs 13 crore, will include a jungle trail and large-scale representations of insects, aimed at providing an educational and engaging experience, especially for children.

Funds were also approved from the Infrastructure Development Fund for the development of Urmila Van and for horticulture-related works in various green belts of Aliganj.Focusing on public health and fitness, financial approval was granted for installing 250 open gyms in parks across the city. At the same time, street lighting will be strengthened at major intersections and important roads to improve safety and visibility, particularly during night hours.Civic improvement works are also part of the plan. The Supa Lake in Aishbagh will undergo rejuvenation and beautification at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore. The work will include construction of boundary walls, pathways, horticulture and cleaning. In Faizullaganj, a road and a nearly 1.5 km-long drain will be constructed to improve drainage. Divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant directed officials to pay special attention to levelling of the drains and ensure that final connections for disposal of drain water are in place.
