Jaipur: Following a series of crimes involving cars hired from rent-a-cab agencies, Jaipur police have filed FIRs against eight “unauthorised” agencies for operating without registration from RTO and lacking valid trade licences from Jaipur Municipal Corporation, officers said Saturday.“There have been recent cases where rental cars were used in criminal activities,” Rajeev Pachar, additional commissioner of police (law and order), told TOI.In Dec 2025, Pachar formulated a set of guidelines for owners of rent-a-cab agencies. Following this order, city police conducted a probe. “Traffic police formed 13 teams on Jan 29 and these contacted operators as prospective customers. Officers conducted checks on the rented vehicles, drivers, and operators. We managed to zero in on eight agencies,” stated Sumeet Meharda, DCP traffic. tnn
