Bhilwara: The CISF on Thursday commissioned its largest-ever single batch of sportsperson recruits, inducting 324 athletes as head constables after a four-month training programme at the force’s Regional Training Centre (RTC) at Deoli in Tonk district.
Union minister of youth affairs and sports Mansukh Mandaviya attended the passing out parade as chief guest, took the salute and urged the new entrants to “keep playing” while serving, linking their sporting careers to India’s ambition of breaking into the Top-10 sporting nations by 2036.India is bidding to host the 2036 Olympic Games in Ahmedabad, which is also slated to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The 7th batch of head constables includes 171 women and 153 men.
Eighteen of the recruits are international-level gold medallists and 56 are national-level gold medallists, CISF said.CISF officers said the recruits were selected through the force’s biggest sports quota recruitment drive since the CISF was raised in 1969, with selections conducted during July-Aug 2025.CISF DG Praveer Ranjan announced that the force has advanced a proposal to establish its first specialised southern regional “Centre of Excellence” at the Recruits Training Centre at Thakkolam in Tamil Nadu. Under the plan, the force will develop dedicated facilities for badminton, fencing, cycling, and tennis.The Union home ministry has entrusted the CISF with setting up such centres in the southern region, and the force will coordinate with the Union ministry of youth affairs and sports, Ranjan said.
