Chennai: Police launched a hunt for a man and a woman in connection with the rape and impregnation of the woman’s 20-year-old daughter. According to police, the survivor said the accused, Dakshinamoorthy, 50, an acquaintance of her mother, frequently visited their home. “In Jan, her mother administered sedative tablets on multiple occasions. On once instance, in a drowsy state, she found Dakshinamoorthy attempting to sexually abuse her, but she managed to get away,” the police said.Police said, following these incidents, her mother confined her to a bedroom. She later escaped and sought refuge at her aunt’s house in Tiruvannamalai. On Feb 18, after suffering severe abdominal pain, she was admitted to a govt hospital, where doctors informed her that she was seven weeks pregnant. The pregnancy was medically terminated with her consent. A case has been registered. TNN
