Chd judokas clinch 7 medals on Day 1 of junior nationals

Chandigarh: Chandigarh judokas put up an impressive performance on the opening day of the Junior National Judo Championship 2026, clinching seven medals — three gold and four bronze — at the event under way in Kolkata, West Bengal, from Jan 23 to 25.The gold medals were won by Vivek Kumar (55kg), Kapil Damai (60kg) and Angel Yadav (48kg). Bronze medals were secured by Sapna (44kg), Navroop (57kg), Saiyam Chaudhary (55kg) and Subeg Singh (66kg). Karan Pratap Singh (66kg) narrowly missed a podium finish, ending fifth in his category.Among the standout performers, Angel Yadav and Kapil Damai registered dominant victories over international medallists, underlining their technical prowess and confidence on the mat.All the medal winners are trainees of coach Vivek Thakur at the Sports Complex, Sector 34-C, Chandigarh, where they have been groomed from the grassroots level.
