Chandigarh: A group of men allegedly attacked an auto driver and his friend with sharp-edged weapons and sticks, injuring them critically at Faidan Nizampur village of Chandigarh. Police took the victims to GMCH-32 and registered a case on the statement of the injured auto driver. One of the accused has been arrested and raids are on to nab the others. Sector 31 police said the arrested accused has been identified as Sachin alias Ghoda, a resident of Faidan village. In his police complaint, Lalit, an auto-driver, said he was sitting under the iron bridge in Faidan village with his friend, Sarang, at around 9PM, when Sachin alias Ghoda and Ajay arrived with 10 to 12 associates. He said they initially hurled abuses at them and then attacked them with sharp-edged weapons and sticks. Once the victims were beaten and injured, the accused fled from the spot.
